Transformers Universe Details Released

Late last week, Jagex announced that it has worked out a deal with Hasbro to be the publisher for a new MMO based on the popular hit cartoon and movie adaptation Transformers, and will be known as Transformers Universe.  Jagex, a United Kingdom firm famous for its free-to-play blockbuster, Runescape, plans to roll out Universe in North America, Europe, Latin America, New Zealand and Australia.  According to Jagex CEO Mark Gerard, the game will be “dynamic and action-packed”.  Chinese studio NetDragon will be the developer tasked with emulating the robots in disguise.

Today, Jagex announced that the MMO will be available as a free-to-play, browser-based game.  The F2P model is not surprising, as it will provide accessibility to a larger subscriber base.  Fans and followers can also access Transformers Universe via its new website, along with signing up for the game’s official newsletter.  The official website provides few details, provides a general release date for some time in 2012.

Attendees at BotCon this past weekend were given an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the game.  Although no official information is yet available on the official website, Jagex has promised that even more information will be released shortly after the weekend’s activities.
