Trion Worlds Denounces SOPA

It’s not often that mutiplayer games get political, but the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is a controversial piece of legislation that could fundamentally change the Internet as we know it.  Whether you agree or disagree with the legislation, many otherwise a-political companies are coming out for and against.

Trion Worlds, developer of RIFT, has explicitly announced, through General Manager Scott Hartsman, that they do not support SOPA and will be filing a complaint with the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) as such.  The ESA is a big supporter of SOPA.

The legislation is so controversial that infamous hacking group Anonymous has put Sony and Sony Online Entertainment in their crosshairs for attack over their support of it.  Anonymous is suspected of breaching Sony’s servers and user accounts last year.
